Simple or weighted average
With a simple average every grade counts the same: the calculator adds them and divides by how many there are. It is the right choice when all quizzes or all assignments are worth the same.
Most courses, though, give different weight to each part: homework 20%, midterm 30%, final exam 50%, for example. Turn on weights, type each percentage, and the calculator gives the weighted average, the one that actually appears on your report card. It also shows how much weight you have entered so far, so you can tell whether some of the course is still missing.
What grade do I need?
This is the question most students ask before a final exam. With weights turned on, enter the grades you already have, the target grade you want and the weight that remains. The calculator tells you the grade you need on the rest of the course.
If you have already reached the target, it says so. If even a perfect score wouldn't be enough, it tells you that as well, along with the grade you would need, so you can talk to your teacher or plan for the next term with real numbers.
Any grading scale
The calculator works with any scale: 0 to 4, 0 to 10, 0 to 20, 0 to 100 or percentages. The only rule is to use the same scale for every grade you enter. It doesn't convert between scales or into letter grades, so if your school uses letters, enter the number each letter stands for in your syllabus.
It works for a single course, for a semester average across several subjects or for any score made of weighted parts, such as a training program or a competition.
Quick and private
The average updates as you type, with no button to press. Everything is calculated in your browser: your grades are not sent or saved. It is free, with no account, on phones and computers.
Your school's official calculation always wins. Some schools round, drop the lowest grade or apply other rules, so check your syllabus if a result looks different from what your teacher reports.
