Convert PDF to Word and keep editing
Our PDF to Word converter rebuilds your document as a .docx file. In editable mode it recreates paragraphs, detects headings from the font size, keeps bold and italics when the font says so, and places images in roughly the same order as the original. Page breaks are kept, and simple tables are detected by how the columns line up.
That makes it handy when you get a contract, a résumé or a school handout as a PDF and need to change a few lines. Instead of retyping everything, you convert it once and edit the text directly in your word processor.
Editable mode or faithful mode?
Editable mode is for when you want to change the words. The layout is rebuilt from scratch, so spacing, columns and fonts may shift a little compared to the PDF. Plan a quick review before you send the file to anyone.
Faithful mode puts each page into the .docx as an image. It looks identical to the PDF, but you cannot edit the text. It is useful when someone insists on a Word file but the content itself should not change, or when a design is too complex to rebuild cleanly.
Scanned PDFs need OCR first
A scanned PDF is really a set of photos of paper. There is no text inside for the converter to read, so the result would be empty or image-only. When ConvertirDocs detects a PDF without text, it suggests running OCR first.
Use our OCR PDF tool to add a text layer (it recognizes English, Spanish and Portuguese), then bring the result back here. The cleaner and sharper the scan, the better the recognized text, and the less fixing you will need in Word afterwards.
Honest limits and practical tips
Complex documents may need adjustments. Magazines with several columns, forms full of boxes, text over background images and large tables with merged cells are hard to rebuild exactly. The text will be there, but you may have to fix spacing or move a picture.
Your file is processed in your browser and never leaves your device, which matters for résumés, contracts and anything with personal data. If the PDF is locked with a password, remove it first with Unlock PDF, using the password you already know.
Getting a clean result in Word
After converting, open the file and scan it page by page. Fix headings first, since they drive the document outline in Word, then check lists and tables. Applying your own Word styles is often quicker than adjusting spacing line by line.
If you only need part of a long PDF, trim it with Extract pages before converting. A shorter file is faster to process and easier to check.
