Why choose PNG instead of JPG
PNG is a lossless format. It keeps every pixel exactly as rendered, with no compression artifacts around letters or lines. That makes it the right choice for pages built mostly from text, tables, diagrams, charts and logos, where JPG tends to leave a faint blur or halo around sharp edges.
The trade-off is file size. A PNG usually weighs more than a JPG of the same page, especially for pages full of photos. If your document is mainly pictures, or you need small files for an upload form, PDF to JPG is often the better fit.
Picking a resolution
72 dpi gives small images that work for thumbnails or a quick preview. 150 dpi is a comfortable middle ground for screens, presentations, documentation and messaging apps. 300 dpi is meant for printing or for pages with small print that people need to zoom into, and it produces much larger files.
If you are unsure, start with 150 dpi and look at the result at full size. Move up to 300 only if fine text or thin lines don’t look sharp enough.
Everyday uses
Writers of manuals and help articles often need a single page of a PDF as an image to embed in a web page or a wiki. A PNG keeps the diagram labels readable. Teachers turn worksheet pages into images to add to slides or a learning platform. Designers export a page of a brochure proof to drop into a mockup or share for feedback. People who post on social media convert a one-page flyer or infographic so it shows up as an image in the feed.
Developers and support teams also use PNG screenshots of documents in tickets and reports, where a clean, sharp image is easier to read than a compressed one.
Good to know
The images show each page exactly as it is drawn, including headers, footers and page backgrounds. If you only want the photos embedded in a document rather than whole pages, PDF to JPG has an option to extract them as they are. And if you later need to rebuild a PDF from your images, JPG to PDF accepts PNG files too, so you can reorder them and turn them back into a single document.
Your PDF stays on your device
The pages are drawn into images by your own browser, so the PDF is never uploaded and nothing is kept on our side. That is reassuring when the document holds invoices, contracts or personal data. ConvertirDocs is 100% free: no sign-up, no limit on how many files you convert and no paid version.
Long documents at 300 dpi can take a while and use a lot of memory, especially on phones. If you only need a few pages, use Extract pages first and convert just those. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
