How to convert PNG to JPG in 3 steps

  1. 1

Select one or more PNG files. JPG is already set as the output format.

  2. 2

Adjust the JPG quality if you want a lighter or a sharper file.

  3. 3

Press “Process” and download your JPG images, one by one or together in a ZIP.

Your files never leave your device

This tool runs entirely inside your browser. The file is never uploaded to any server: it is read, processed and downloaded on your own device. When you close or reload the page, it is gone from memory.

When you need a JPG instead of a PNG

Plenty of upload forms still say “JPG only”: job portals, school platforms, government applications, rental and insurance websites. If your picture is a PNG, perhaps a screenshot, an image exported from a design app, or a photo someone saved in the wrong format, the form simply rejects it. Converting it to JPG solves the problem in a few seconds.

The other common reason is size. PNG stores every pixel without loss, which is perfect for sharp graphics but makes photos very heavy. The same photo saved as JPG is usually much lighter, so it attaches to email faster, uploads more reliably, and takes less space on your phone.

Transparent areas become white

JPG can't store transparency. If your PNG has a transparent background, such as a logo, a signature or a product cut-out, those areas are filled with white in the JPG. That's usually what you want for documents and forms, and it avoids the black background some programs show instead.

If you need to keep the transparent background, JPG isn't the right format. Choose PNG to WEBP instead, or keep the original PNG.

Getting the quality right

The quality setting lets you decide between a sharper file and a lighter one. For photos, a high or medium quality usually looks the same as the PNG on screen. For screenshots with small text, keep the quality high so the letters stay crisp, because JPG can add soft edges around fine lines.

If a portal also has a size limit in KB, send the JPG to “Compress image” afterward and type the target size. You don't need to select the file again.

Converted on your device, for free

This converter runs in your browser, so your PNG files are never uploaded or stored anywhere. There's no account, no sign-up and no limit on the number of images: it's 100% free.

The JPG you download carries no EXIF data. If the PNG came from a phone and included details like the GPS location, they're not copied into the new file.

Where your PNG files usually come from

Screenshots are the most common source. Phones and computers save them as PNG, so a picture of a receipt, a chat or a booking confirmation often turns up as a PNG that a form won't take. Design apps, online editors and some cameras on messaging apps also export PNG by default, and people sometimes save photos as PNG without realizing how much heavier they become. Whatever the origin, the steps are the same: select, convert and download.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my JPG so much smaller than the PNG?

JPG uses lossy compression designed for photos, while PNG keeps every pixel exactly. For photos, the difference in size is usually large and the difference in look is small.

What happens to a transparent background?

It becomes white, because JPG doesn't support transparency.

Will text in my screenshot stay readable?

Yes, especially at high quality. If you notice blurry edges around small letters, convert again with a higher quality setting.

Can I convert many PNG files at once?

Yes. Select them all and download the JPG files in a single ZIP.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser and your images never leave your device.

Can I turn the JPG into a PDF?

Yes. Send the result to “JPG to PDF” to combine one or more images into a single PDF, for example to attach several pages to an application.

Can I choose a size in pixels too?

Not in this converter. After downloading, or straight from the result, send the JPG to “Resize image” to set a width, a height or a percentage.
