Your files never leave your device

This tool runs entirely inside your browser. The file is never uploaded to any server: it is read, processed and downloaded on your own device. When you close or reload the page, it is gone from memory.

Round pictures for profiles and designs

Round images are everywhere: profile pictures on social networks and messaging apps, team photos on an “About us” page, speaker photos in an event program, avatars in a presentation, author photos in a newsletter, or a portrait in an email signature. Many sites show your photo in a circle anyway, but when you build a slide, a poster or a web page yourself, you need the image already cut round.

This page starts ready for that: the frame is a circle with a 1:1 proportion. Drag it over the face or the logo, adjust its size, and download. The corners outside the circle are transparent, so the image sits cleanly on any background color.

Circle, oval or rounded corners

The circle is the classic choice for faces and avatars. If the subject is taller than it is wide, such as a full portrait or a vertical product photo, switch to the oval and change the proportion. For a softer look that still shows the whole picture, choose rounded corners, which keep the rectangle but round off its edges, like an app icon or a card.

You can also go back to a normal rectangle at any time. Rotating 90° and flipping the image work with every shape, so a sideways photo or a mirrored selfie can be fixed in the same step.

Why the result is a PNG

A round image needs transparent corners, and JPG has no transparency: it would fill them with a solid color. That is why a circle or rounded-corner crop always comes out as a PNG with a transparent background, ready to drop into Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Word or a website.

PNG files of photos can be larger than JPG. If the file is too heavy for where it is going, make the image smaller with “Resize image” or reduce it with “Compress image”, which also accepts PNG. Check that the place you upload it to accepts transparent PNG; some forms convert it to JPG and fill the corners with white or black.

Private and free

The crop is made in your browser. The image is not uploaded or stored, and the file you download no longer carries the EXIF data of the original, including any GPS location from your phone. It is free, with no account, no watermark and no limit on how many images you crop.

If the photo has a plain white background you would like to remove as well, “Remove white background” makes it transparent before or after cropping.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a round profile picture?

Select your photo, place the circle over your face, adjust its size and download the PNG.

Why is the background transparent?

The area outside the circle is left empty so the round image fits on any background. That is why the result is a PNG.

Can I save it as JPG?

Not with a round shape, because JPG doesn't support transparency. Choose the rectangle if you need a JPG.

Can I make an oval instead of a circle?

Yes. Choose the oval and change the proportion, for example to 3:4 for a portrait.

What are rounded corners for?

They keep the whole rectangle but soften its corners, a common look for cards, thumbnails and icons.

Can I crop several images in a circle at once?

No. Each crop is placed by hand, so this tool works with one image at a time.

Is my image uploaded?

No. It is cropped in your browser and never leaves your device.
