How to make barcode labels in 3 steps

  1. 1

Choose the barcode type and type your codes, one per line, or load them from a .txt file.

  2. 2

Pick the paper (A4 or Letter), the number of labels per sheet (10, 21, 24 or 40) and how many copies of each code you need, from 1 to 24.

  3. 3

Download the PDF and print it at 100% scale on label sheets or plain paper.

Labels for a store, a stockroom or an office

A small shop that sells its own products needs a label on each one. A warehouse needs codes on bins and shelves. An office or a school needs asset tags on laptops, projectors and tools so they can be tracked. A home seller needs labels for the items listed online. In all of these cases, what you really want is not one image per code but a full sheet you can print and peel.

This page opens the barcode generator directly in label sheet mode. You type the codes once and get a PDF with every label placed on the page, ready to print.

Codes, layouts and copies

Supported types are EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14 and ISBN. The check digit is added if you leave it out, and the format is validated so you see mistakes before printing. You can enter up to 500 codes, typed one per line or loaded from a .txt file exported from a spreadsheet or inventory system.

Layouts of 10, 21, 24 or 40 labels per sheet cover common label paper sizes, from large shipping-style labels to small price tags. Copies from 1 to 24 per code let you print, for example, 24 labels of the same product for a full shelf, or one label for each of 40 different tools. The bar height goes from 10 to 25 mm and the numbers under the bars can be shown or hidden.

Getting the print to line up

Print the PDF at 100% scale, or "actual size", and turn off "fit to page". If the printer shrinks the page, the labels drift away from the precut edges. Before using a pack of adhesive sheets, print one page on plain paper, hold it against a label sheet in front of a light and check that the codes fall inside each label.

Then scan a label with the reader you will use at the register or in the stockroom. Barcode scanners need enough contrast and a quiet margin on each side, so avoid colored paper and very small labels for long codes.

Numbers for retail must be registered

ConvertirDocs prints the barcode for the number you provide; it doesn't assign product numbers. If you plan to sell through retailers or marketplaces that require EAN or UPC codes, those numbers must be registered, for example with GS1. For internal stock, asset tags or shelf locations, Code 128 or Code 39 with your own numbering is enough.

The labels are generated in your browser: your list of codes is not sent anywhere or stored. It is free, with no account and no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Which label sheets does it work with?

It makes layouts of 10, 21, 24 or 40 labels on A4 or Letter. Print a test page on plain paper and compare it with your label sheet before using it.

Can I print several copies of the same code?

Yes. Choose from 1 to 24 copies of each code.

Can I load my codes from a spreadsheet?

Save the column of codes as a .txt file with one code per line and load it, or paste the list directly.

Why are my labels misaligned?

The PDF was probably scaled. Print at 100% or "actual size" with "fit to page" turned off.

Can I use these labels to sell in stores?

Only if the EAN or UPC numbers are registered, for example with GS1. ConvertirDocs doesn't assign numbers.

How many codes can one PDF have?

Up to 500 different codes, with up to 24 copies of each.
