Your real signature, as a file
A signature drawn with a mouse rarely looks like the one you make with a pen. If you want the real thing on your digital documents, the simplest route is to sign on paper once and convert that photo into a clean image. This page opens directly in upload mode for that purpose.
The tool removes the light background of the paper and keeps the ink. What you download is a PNG where everything except the strokes is transparent, trimmed tightly so it has no empty margin. You make it once and keep it for every letter, form and invoice that comes later.
How to photograph the signature
The cleaner the photo, the cleaner the PNG. Use plain white paper without lines or squares, because ruled lines are dark enough to survive along with the ink. Sign with a pen that leaves a firm, dark stroke; a felt-tip or gel pen works better than a faint ballpoint or a pencil.
Lay the paper flat near a window or under even light, and hold the phone directly above it so your hand and the phone don't cast a shadow across the page. Get close enough for the signature to fill most of the frame. If the picture includes the edge of the table or other writing, cut it down first with “Crop image”.
Adjusting the level and the ink
After uploading, you control how much of the picture counts as background. If gray patches of paper or a shadow remain, raise the level until they vanish. If the thin parts of your strokes start to break up, lower it. The preview shows the result as you adjust, so it takes a few seconds to find the point where the paper is gone and the signature is whole.
Then pick the ink. Black and blue give a uniform, crisp color that prints well and reads clearly on screen. The original color option keeps the tone of your own pen, which looks more natural when the photo was taken in good light.
Why PNG, and where to use it
PNG is the format to use because it supports transparency, which JPG does not. A JPG signature always carries a white rectangle that hides the line or the text beneath it. A transparent PNG sits on top of a signature line, a stamp or a colored background and shows only the ink.
Insert it as a picture in Word or Google Docs, add it to your email signature, or place it on a PDF with “Sign PDF” or “Edit PDF” on this site. Keep in mind what it is: an image of your signature, a simple electronic signature. It is not a digital signature with a certificate, and some procedures ask for one, so check with the recipient when it matters.
Nothing leaves your device
A picture of your signature is not something to hand to an unknown server. Here the photo is processed in your browser: it is not uploaded and it is not stored. The tool is free, needs no account and leaves no watermark on the PNG.
