From a designer's file to an image you can use
Designers deliver logos, posters, menus, packaging and social media graphics as .ai files, because that's where the vector artwork lives. But the person who needs to use the design, whether to upload a logo to a website builder, add it to a presentation, put it in an email signature or post it, usually needs an image, not an Illustrator document.
PNG is the natural choice for that kind of artwork. It keeps flat colors, text and edges sharp, without the blurry halos that JPG compression can add around lettering and logos. It's accepted by practically every website, app and office program.
One image per artboard, at 200 dpi
Illustrator files often have several artboards: the logo in color and in black, the front and back of a business card, or a set of social posts. ConvertirDocs creates one PNG for each artboard or page stored in the file, so you get every version without opening the file in Illustrator.
The artwork is rendered at 200 dpi, which gives a good, sharp image for screens, documents and most everyday uses. If you need a different pixel size, send the PNG to “Resize image” afterward. For a large print job or for editing the vectors, ask the designer for the original file in the format the printer wants, or use AI to PDF to keep the artwork as vectors.
Requirement: PDF-compatible .ai files
This works because Illustrator, by default, saves a PDF version of the artwork inside the .ai file when the option “Create PDF Compatible File” is on. ConvertirDocs reads that version. If the file was saved with the option turned off, there's nothing it can read, and you'll see a clear message instead of a broken image. Ask the sender to save it again with the default option, or to export a PDF or PNG directly.
Transparent background and next steps
If you need a logo with no background to place over a photo or a colored banner, send the PNG to “Remove white background”, which makes a plain white background transparent. It works well for logos and flat graphics, not for photos with complex backgrounds.
The conversion runs in your browser, so the artwork is never uploaded or stored. Unreleased branding and client files stay with you, there's no account to create, and there's no limit on how many files you convert.
