Why choose PNG instead of JPG
TIFF is often chosen because it keeps every detail: archive scans, technical drawings, maps, line art, diagrams and images that will be edited again. When you convert those to JPG, compression can blur fine lines and leave faint smudges around text. PNG doesn't do that. It's lossless, so every pixel of the TIFF page is kept exactly as it is.
PNG is also far more compatible than TIFF. It opens in every web browser, previews on phones, works in presentation and office software, and can be placed on websites, wikis and documentation pages where a .tif file would simply show as a download link.
Common reasons to convert TIFF to PNG
A scanned drawing or a signature that you want to place in a document or a slide. A diagram exported from an engineering or medical program as TIFF that needs to go into a report. An archive image from a library or museum download that you want to share in a chat or post on a site. A screenshot tool or a fax program that saved its output as TIFF when you expected something easier to open.
In all these cases PNG gives you a file that looks identical, with sharp edges and readable text, and that anyone can open without special software.
Multi-page files and file size
A TIFF can hold several pages, as scanned contracts and faxes often do. ConvertirDocs reads all of them, and each page becomes a separate PNG. With several results, download everything in a ZIP. If you'd rather keep the pages together, TIFF to PDF builds one PDF in the original order.
Because PNG is lossless, a scanned photo can still be heavy as PNG. That's normal: PNG is ideal for text, graphics and drawings, while for photos JPG is usually much lighter. If size matters, try TIFF to JPG, or send the PNG to “Compress image”, which reduces colors to a palette and works well for scans and graphics.
Done on your device, for free
The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your TIFF files are never uploaded or stored, which matters for scanned documents with personal or business information. There's no account, no sign-up and no limit on how many files you convert.
The PNG files you download carry no EXIF data, so scanner or camera details aren't copied into them. From the result you can continue straight to tools like “Crop image” or “Resize image” without selecting the file again.
