How to convert an image to JPG in 3 steps

  1. 1

Select one or more images in any supported format, even mixed together. JPG is already set as the output.

  2. 2

Adjust the JPG quality if you want a lighter file or more detail.

  3. 3

Press “Process” and download the JPG files, one by one or together in a ZIP.

Your files never leave your device

This tool runs entirely inside your browser. The file is never uploaded to any server: it is read, processed and downloaded on your own device. When you close or reload the page, it is gone from memory.

One converter for every format

You don't need to know what format your image is in. This page opens JPG, JPEG and JFIF, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, ICO, SVG, TIFF, Photoshop PSD, Illustrator .ai, JPEG XL, iPhone HEIC and camera RAW files, and turns them all into JPG. You can even select a mix of formats at once, for example a PNG screenshot, a WEBP from a website and a TIFF from a scanner, and get a folder of JPG files back.

JPG is the most widely accepted image format. Job portals, government forms, rental and insurance sites, school platforms, print shops and older software all understand it. When something says “JPG only”, this is the quickest way to comply.

What to expect from each format

Transparent areas in PNG, WEBP, SVG or ICO files become white, since JPG has no transparency. Animated GIFs give you their first frame. SVG drawings are rendered at 2000 pixels on the longest side. Multi-page TIFF files give one JPG per page. Illustrator files need to have been saved with “Create PDF Compatible File”, which is the default, and give one image per artboard. Photoshop files need the combined image that Photoshop stores when “Maximize Compatibility” is on.

Camera RAW files (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG and others) use the JPEG preview the camera keeps inside the file. The RAW data itself isn't developed, and the size of that preview depends on the camera. HEIC opens in Safari, and in Chrome when the device has an HEVC decoder; JPEG XL opens everywhere, with a decoder downloaded only when needed. If a file can't be read, the site tells you.

Choosing the quality

The quality setting decides the balance between a sharper image and a smaller file. High quality is a good choice for printing and for images with fine text. Medium quality is usually indistinguishable on a screen and gives lighter files for email and uploads. If a site has a strict size limit in KB, convert first and then send the JPG to “Compress image” to hit the exact size.

Files that are already .jpeg or .jfif can be copied as .jpg without recompression, so they keep every bit of their original quality.

Private by design

Conversion happens in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to a server, which matters for IDs, receipts and personal photos. There's no sign-up and no limit on how many images you convert. JPG files created by re-encoding don't carry EXIF data, so a photo's GPS location isn't passed on, and the camera orientation is applied. ConvertirDocs is 100% free.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert to JPG?

JPEG, JFIF, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, ICO, SVG, TIFF, PSD, AI, JPEG XL, HEIC and camera RAW files, with the browser-related limits described above.

Can I convert different formats together?

Yes. Select them all at once and every file comes out as JPG, downloaded together in a ZIP.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

They become white. Choose Image to PNG if you need to keep transparency.

Why did my HEIC photo fail?

Your browser can't decode HEIC on this device. Try Safari, or Chrome on a device with an HEVC decoder.

Will a RAW file give me a full-size JPG?

It gives you the preview stored by the camera. On many cameras that's full size, on others it's smaller.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing leaves your device.
